MediaWiki talk:Sidebar

From Freddy
Jump to: navigation, search

I'd like to propose a new structure for this, maybe to go live at the same time as the new theme. Basically, break this navigation into just two boxes: The first for readers of the wiki, the second for authors and editors. We could add some extra pages into the main navigation (suggestions welcome).

So, I think we should do this:

"Navigation"

  • Front Page
  • Search (linked to the advanced search page)
  • Categories
  • Popular Pages
  • Random Page

We should nuke the ‘Community Portal’ link and also the ‘Help’ link, and switch the donations page to go direct to the donations page on Freddyshouse forums now that it's all hosted in the same place.

Then,

"For Authors"

  • News
  • Planning
  • Todo
  • Recent Changes
  • Wanted Pages
  • WikiText Help (for using the Wiki code stuff, hosted on the MediaWiki site)

Thoughts?

Well we have our own help section, which is still ongoing, though I agree that it's silly to invent the wheel twice. Unless our wheel is better ofc.

Don't forget the help section - especially with regard to creating pages, creating redirects, and what the history button does.
