Round

A round in this instance refers to the number of sandwiches served when 'two rounds' of sandwiches are ordered. Most sane people with intelligence understand that 'two rounds' of sandwiches actually means two sandwiches; two entirely separate sandwiches consisting of 4 slices of bread, and 2 sets of ingredients.

Certain members would expect this when they ordered two rounds of ham sandwich.

Unfortunately, some people refuse to accept this generally held view, and thus expose themselves to ridicule.

The issue becomes even more complex when one considers the problems encountered when ordering slices of toast. In this instance, if the customer wanted 2 slices of toast lightly buttered, he/she would order 'two rounds' of toast.

The confusion arises when people confuse the term 'round' with the number of slices of whatever product they are ordering.
